Hedge Mage

Hedge Mage is a top-down, letter-based maze RPG where you play as a mage trapped within a living hedge labyrinth. To survive and ultimately escape, you must explore the twisting corridors in search of scattered letters, carefully collecting them to assemble the words required to cast powerful spells. Each spell demands precision—gather the correct letters in the proper order, and you can unleash magic to defend yourself, manipulate your surroundings, and progress deeper into the maze. Complete the final goal spell, and freedom may finally be within reach.

But the maze is far from empty. Strange creatures roam its overgrown paths, hunting relentlessly. They will pursue you through narrow passages, attempt to steal your hard-earned letters, and disrupt your carefully planned incantations. Managing risk becomes just as important as mastering magic.

Central to your survival is the Book—your essential companion within the maze. The Book allows you to create and record discovered spells, track collected letters, and monitor your current objectives. It serves as both a spellcrafting interface and a strategic ledger, helping you plan which words to pursue and which powers to prepare for the dangers ahead.
